Standard 20

  • Part-time General English course, from 9am – 12.45pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Beginners to Advanced levels.
  • All classes are General English with a focus on the four skills of listening, reading, writing, speaking and an emphasis on grammar.
  • This course starts every Monday of the year (except during the 2 week Summer Holiday).
  • There are 20 x 50 minute lessons per week.


Intensive 30

  • Full-time English course, from 9am – 12.45pm, then 1.45pm - 3.30pm.
  • Morning classes are the same as the Standard 20 course.
  • If a student is of an Intermediate level of English or higher, they can elect from the following afternoon options in Auckland: IELTS Exam Preparation, TOEFL iBT / TOEIC Exam Preparation, Business English, General English. In Christchurch, it is possible to choose to study Exam Preparation (TOEIC / IELTS).
  • Students in the lower levels must do General English until their level is high enough. The General English classes in the afternoons have a focus on speaking, listening, and pronunciation. Morning classes do have speaking and listening components, however the emphasis is on Grammar.
  • This course starts every Monday of the year (except during the 2 week Summer Holiday).
  • Students can also study for the Cambridge Exams on this course – the Cambridge Courses run at specific times (please see the brochure for start dates).
  • Students with a Beginner’s level of English can start on the first Monday of every month
  • There are 30 x 50 minute lessons per week.


International School Year Course

  • This course is a full-time, long term course, of 24 weeks, 30 weeks, 36 weeks and 48 weeks, with a special price. It is the most economical option for students wanting long-term study.
  • This course starts on the first Monday of every month, and has set starting and finishing dates, with no changes allowed.
  • The content of the course is exactly the same as the Intensive 30 course, with the same afternoon options available.
  • If there is a Cambridge Exam Course running during the duration of an ISY Course, students can choose to study in one of the Full-time classes in Auckland (FCE and CAE/CPE). In Christchurch, we are just offering FCE Exam Preparation as an afternoon class.
  • Students with a Beginner’s Level of English can start on the first Monday of every month. All other levels of English are available all the time.


Plus 5 / Plus 10 Supplements

  • These are Private Lessons. Plus 5 is one 45 minute lesson per day. Plus 10 is a one and a half hour lesson per day.
  • The Plus 5 or Plus 10 supplements can either be after lunchtime (13.45), or after afternoon. lessons (15.30). We are fairly flexible – please contact us if you have further questions.


Cambridge Courses

  • In LSI Auckland we offer preparation for the First Certificate Exam, Cambridge Advanced Exam, Cambridge Proficiency Exam, PET Exam, and the BEC Exam.
  • In LSI Christchurch we offer preparation for the FCE Exam. Please see the Start Dates section for Course start dates.
  • We have Pre-Tests available, so if you are not sure which exam you should enrol in, please contact us, and we can fax a Pre-Test to you.
  • The prices for the Cambridge Courses are the same as Intensive 30. If you are studying on the ISY course, you can also study for the Cambridge Exams during this course.
  • The only additional fees for Cambridge students are the Book Fee (2 books), and the Exam Fee (as set by Cambridge).
  • Please note: there is a late fee if you book after the enrolment date for the exam.


Mini Group – English for Business

  • This course is an Intensive Business English Course, with a maximum of 6 people in the class.
  • Classes are from 9am – 10.30am, 10.45am – 12.15pm, and 1.15pm – 2.45pm.


One-to-One

  • It is possible to have private lessons whilst you are LSI – lessons are 45 minutes long.
  • It is possible to have 20, 30, 40, or 50 lessons per week.


Exam Preparation - IELTS / TOEFL iBT / TOEIC

  • In LSI Auckland, IELTS, TOEFL iBT and TOEIC Exam Preparation are afternoon classes, which are optional.
  • If you book any of these courses in advance, then availability is guaranteed.
  • In LSI Christchurch, IELTS and TOEIC Exam Preparation are offered as afternoon options.

   LSI Auckland is a test centre for the TOEIC exam and the TOEFL Exam (iBT).

   LSI Christchurch is a test centre for the TOEIC exam.

 

Course Materials Fee

  • The Course materials fee is NZ$20 per week, with a maximum of NZ$400 payable.
  • This covers the cost of books and photo copies.
  • For students staying 1-3 weeks, you will receive photocopies. For students staying 4 weeks or longer, you will receive copies and books (the number of books depends on the length of your stay).
