Accommodation

LSI has assessed the suitability of all its homestays and hostel/residence recommendations (Huia Residence, City Lodge, Urban Rooms, YMCA, and LivingSpace at the Mill). We have not assessed the suitability of any accommodation other than the above, and we are not recommending it - simply advising of its existence.

All accommodation placements are subject to a NZ$200 placement fee.

Auckland Accommodation

Auckland, 'The City of Sails', is New Zealand's largest city with a population of 1.5 million people. It straddles two harbours and has many beachside suburbs. Auckland is an excellent place to practice your English, while enjoying many of the outdoor activities on offer, as well as meeting people from all around the world!

 

Homestay / Private Homes

Our homestays are carefully selected and offer students the opportunity to learn more about the Kiwi culture in a comfortable setting while studying English in Auckland.

  • Welcoming and friendly atmosphere
  • Carefully selected by our Accommodation officers and visited on a regular basis
  • Choice of single rooms (or twin rooms in special circumstances, for two students booking together) w/ bed and breakfast or half-board
  • All bed linen and towels provided
  • Most host families will wash a student’s personal laundry once a week at no additional cost
  • Good and reliable transport links
  • Executive families with ensuite options are available at an extra NZ$70 per week (availability is not guaranteed)

Residence Hostels

These options are more suitable for an independent student, who is looking for clean, basic accommodation at an economic price. All students must be 18+ unless otherwise noted.

 City Lodge

City Lodge hostel is situated in the CBD, 5 minutes walk from LSI and the City Centre.

Rooms: 96 single, premium single and double/twin rooms w/refrigerator, tea/coffee making facilities, TV, desk.
Private Bathroom: Yes, ensuite.
Facilities: Lounge w/TV, large kitchen, dining area, internet facilities, laundry room, reduced rates for YMCA fitness centre, directly above City Lodge.
Prices (per person per week): Single room stays are NZ$270 per week, please contact LSI for premium single and double room rates.
Availability: Year-round.
Other: Clean linen supplied weekly, 24 hour managers. Minimum 1 weeks’ notice required for cancellations, otherwise 1 week payable. Minimum stays apply, 7 nights for weekly rate and 28 nights for monthly rate. Should the stay fall below the minimum number of nights a weekly/nightly rate will be charged (please contact LSI Auckland for nightly rate). Payment must be received before accommodation start date.
MINIMUM STAY 1 WEEK.

Situated 10 minutes walk from LSI, and just a 1 minute walk from Queen Street.

Rooms: 80 spacious studio rooms and one-bedroom suites w/SKY TV, phone, coffee/tea making facilities, message facilities, hairdryer, mini bar, air-conditioning, heating.
Prices (per night): From NZ$150 to NZ$230.

The Duxton Hotel    

Situated 5 minutes walk from LSI, overlooking Myers Park.

Rooms: Equipped w/color cable TV, modem connection, voice mail.
Facilities: Restaurants, pool, gym, conference facilities.
Prices (per night): From NZ$250 to NZ$300.

Langham Hotel    

Situated 3 minutes walk from LSI.

Facilities: Restaurants, pool, gym, business centre, conference rooms.

Christchurch Accommodation

Christchurch, 'The Garden City', is an attractive city where you can study and learn while at the same time experience a lifestyle that is both stimulating and relaxing. It is the largest city in the South Island (population 344,100). There is also a wide range of attractions and recreational activities to experience, and it is an excellent base from which to explore the beautiful South Island!

The YMCA is 5 minutes walk from the City Centre, and 10 - 15 minutes walk from LSI Christchurch. It is set amongst pleasant surroundings, were next to the vibrant Arts Centre with its colourful craft shops, cafes, theatres and weekend market.

Rooms: Standard rooms w/a desk & wardrobe.
Private Bathroom: No, shared facilities.
Meals: Dinner and breakfast provided.
Facilities: Communal kitchen, communal bathrooms, TV lounge, & living area. Bedding provided. Towels to be provided by student.
Prices (per person, per week): Single NZ$231, Large Single Room NZ$245.
Availability: Year-round, check when booking.
Other: Fax/internet service available. Bond of NZ$300 payable at time of booking. You must pay 4 weeks rent in advance.

House Share

Urban Rooms

The central location of these houses gives easy walking access to the fabulous Christchurch City working, entertainment, shopping, and recreation opportunities - taking five minutes on foot to the central Cathedral Square.

Rooms: Rooms w/double bed, desk/chairs, wardrobe, heater, locking doors.
Private Bathroom: No, shared.
Facilities: Lounge w/TV, DVD player, heater; fully equipped kitchen; washing machine.
Prices (per person per week): Single NZ$175, Twin/Double NZ$230.
Availability: Year-round.
Other: Free broadband internet connection; Everyone shares housework and keeps common areas clean ($5 per week for consumables, $5 per week for TV in room, $5 per week for electric blanket, $10 per week for parking); 2 weeks rent in advance and $50 booking fee; rates include internet, electricity & gas, rubbish collection, gardener, local telephone calls.

LivingSpace at The Mill

LivingSpace is just 5 minutes walk to the city centre and Cathedral Square where you will find the Information Centre. The Arts Centre, Botanical Gardens, Museum, Hospital, Town Hall and Convention Centre are also easily accessible.

Rooms: Rooms w/double bed, desk/chairs, SKY TV, phone, voicemail, linen, wardrobe, high speed internet connection. Studio rooms have kitchenettes while 2-4 bedroom apartments have shared kitchens.
Private Bathroom: Studio rooms w/ensuite facilities; apartments w/shared facilities.
Facilities: movie theatre, 24 hour computer/business suite, communal kitchens, lounges, games room, library, outdoor atriums.
Prices (per person per week): 3 or 4 bedroom apartment 4 – 12 wks $250/wk, 12 – 30 wks $205/wk, 30+ wks $180/wk. 2 bedroom apartment (min. 2 people) 4 – 12 wks $320/wk p/p, 12 – 30 wks $285/wk p/p, 30+ wks $280/wk p/p.
